About Wendy Chamberlain MP 

​

Wendy Chamberlain has been the Member of Parliament for North East Fife since 2019. Originally from Greenock, she has lived in Fife for over 20 years. Before entering politics, Wendy served as a police officer and later worked in education, the Ministry of Defence, and the private sector. She also held a leadership role in Scottish sport, becoming the first woman to serve on the board of the Camanachd Association.

Wendy was elected to Parliament in 2019, winning back North East Fife in one of the most closely contested seats in the UK. She was re-elected in 2024 with a significantly increased majority, reflecting the strong support she has earned across the constituency. 

​

North East Fife is a diverse and historic constituency, home to the University of St Andrews, a rich agricultural sector, and vibrant coastal communities. Wendy is proud to represent an area with such a strong sense of identity and civic engagement. 

​

In Parliament, Wendy has built a reputation as a hardworking and principled MP. She currently serves as the Liberal Democrat Chief Whip and Deputy Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats. She has led on legislation to support carers, championed action on food poverty, and consistently spoken up for her constituents on national and local issues.

Wendy is widely respected for her integrity, her collaborative approach, and her commitment to public service. Her re-election was a clear endorsement of her work and values.

Wendy Chamberlain’s role within the Liberal Democrats 


Wendy is the Liberal Democrat Chief Whip and Deputy Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats. She previously served as the party’s Spokesperson for Work and Pensions. 


You are welcome to contact her about national policy matters, but due to limited support for portfolio work, individual replies may not always be possible. 

 

What does an MP do? 


MPs are elected to Parliament by British, Irish and Commonwealth residents of a constituency. There are currently 650 constituencies in the UK.

 
In Parliament, MPs debate and vote on proposed laws and other matters. Many also sit on parliamentary committees or hold roles as government ministers or opposition spokespeople. 


MPs assist constituents by raising issues with Government departments and representing local concerns in Parliament.

She is not elected to Fife Council and cannot directly resolve local authority matters such as housing, roads, or planning, but may contact the Council or refer you to a local councillor.

How long will it take to reply to you? 


Wendy and her team aim to respond to casework enquiries in a timely manner. Complex cases or high volumes may mean it takes longer to get back to you. Policy enquiries and campaign emails are also acknowledged, but personal casework is prioritised.

Surgeries are held at various locations across North East Fife.

Wendy Chamberlain Expenses 


My priority is to serve the people of North East Fife effectively. 
The majority of my office and staffing costs are used to support the running of my constituency office in Cupar and the team based there. 
I have two members of staff based in Westminster. 
All MPs’ expenses are regulated by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA). Full details are available on the IPSA website

Booking tours and tickets 


My Westminster office can request free 75-minute tours of Parliament for constituents when the House is sitting. 


To request a tour, please email wendy.chamberlain.mp@parliament.uk with: 

  • Your name and postcode 

  • Number of adults and children 

  • Up to five preferred dates (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday) 

  • Your availability on those dates 
    Please give as much notice as possible.

Big Ben tours 


Each MP is allocated a limited number of free tickets annually. These are released three months in advance and are in high demand. 


If you are interested, please contact my office early with your preferred dates.

Watching debates in Parliament.

 

PMQ/Debate Tickets 
My office can request tickets for constituents to watch debates from the public gallery. 


Due to high demand, especially for Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs), availability is limited. 


Each MP can request up to two PMQ tickets per month. If you are interested in attending on a Monday, Tuesday or Thursday instead, please email with your preferred date and number of tickets.
