Casework Spotlight - July 2025

Every week, my team and I are committed to supporting constituents across North East Fife with the issues that matter most to them. Since being elected in December 2019, my office has handled almost 30,000 cases.
These cases cover a huge range of topics. Whether it's someone struggling to access the benefits they’re entitled to, delays with the Home Office, concerns about local services, or issues with national legislation, my team works hard to ensure that every case receives a thorough and thoughtful response.
In July, we opened 602 new cases, generating over 2700 pieces of correspondence, and solved 1143 cases. These included personal or constituency-specific issues, such as benefits, housing, access to healthcare and cost of living, as well as national policy queries and ongoing political campaigns, where constituents want to share their views on matters ranging from climate change to international aid.
This work takes time, focus and, above all, compassion. In just the past week, my team spent over 100 collective hours on casework, some of which requires several hours a day to resolve more complex or sensitive issues. They engage directly with government departments, local authorities, charities and service providers, attending meetings and making sure constituents are heard and helped.
My team and I regularly try to develop and refresh our knowledge in order to best support Constituents. For example, the team recently attended a benefits and Universal Credit training session which was hosted by Shelter Scotland and focused primarily on the managed migration process.
This effort wouldn’t be possible without my brilliant constituency team:
Arlene, my Office Manager, keeps the office running and helps manage local casework. She says:
“Two days are never the same, we deal with such a wide range of constituent concerns. I feel privileged to be able to help in some way and play a part in solving problems. As a small team we do our best to support the most vulnerable in the community.”
Ali, who leads on policy and campaign correspondence, adds:
“I enjoy the variety - helping individuals while also contributing to national discussions on key issues.”
Neve, who handles much of our day-to-day constituency casework, shares:
“It’s rewarding to help people across North East Fife. Every day brings a new challenge.”
I’ll soon be on a Summer Tour visiting everywhere in North East Fife and am looking forward to talking to as many constituents as possible. If you live in North East Fife and need support, please get in touch on wendy.chamberlain.mp@parliament.uk, we’re always here to help.
