Running the London Marathon

On Sunday, I completed the London Marathon, my first ever marathon, and it’s safe to say it was an unforgettable experience.

Joining tens of thousands of runners from across the UK and beyond, I took on the 26.2-mile course through London. There were definitely highs and lows along the way, but what stood out most was the incredible atmosphere. The support from the crowds lining the streets was truly something special and kept me going, even in the toughest moments.
I’m absolutely delighted to have raised over £7300 for two charities that mean a great deal to me: PANS PANDAS UK and Fife Carers Centre.
PANS PANDAS UK does vital work to raise awareness and improve diagnosis and care for children affected by these conditions, something I’ve been campaigning on in Parliament after hearing from local families. Fife Carers Centre, meanwhile, provides essential support to unpaid carers across our community, offering advice, advocacy and practical help to those who so often put others first.
Training for the marathon was a challenge in itself. Like many people, I had to fit it around a busy schedule, in my case, late votes in Westminster and regular travel between London and North East Fife. There were plenty of early mornings and late evenings involved, but knowing I was doing it to support these two incredible organisations kept me motivated every step of the way.
Crossing the finish line was an emotional moment. I felt a real sense of achievement, not just for completing the marathon, but for being able to raise funds and awareness for causes that make such a difference to people’s lives.
Both of these organisations support families through incredibly difficult circumstances, and I’m proud to be able to play a small part in helping them continue their work. I’ve seen first-hand the impact they have, and that’s what made taking on this challenge so worthwhile.
A huge thank you to everyone who donated, supported and cheered me on- it really does mean so much.
Donations are still open, so if you would like to contribute, it’s not too late to get involved.
